McCutcheon Will Be Getting a NEW STEAM Lab through a FUSE Studio Grant!
I wrote the grant, received support from our school's new dynamic principal, who also happens to share in my vision for enhancing STEM at our school, and we were so excited to receive the exciting news last week that we were one of six lucky schools to receive a new STEAM Studio for our students starting next school year! This is write in line with my ImagineIT as it will allow our students to practice challenging, engaging, creative, and most of all FUN STEAM skills that are essential to preparing the next generation of innovators and STEM professionals!
The FUSE website, https://www.fusestudio.net/, states: "FUSE is a new kind of interest-driven learning experience developed by researchers and educators in the School of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University. The program engages pre-teens and teens in science, technology, engineering, arts/design, and mathematics (STEAM) topics while fostering the development of important 21st century skills. FUSE is based on extensive research on interest development and interest-driven learning."
When I showed my students the email with our grant award announcement and short videos introducing some of the FUSE STEAM challenges, it was so exciting to see their enthusiasm and interests peak as they wanted me to show them all of the introductory videos! They will now get to explore so many STEAM challenges with 3D printing and computer software designs, computer coding, robotics, engineering and architectural design projects, digital movie creation and music mixing, etc. For more on the FUSE Challenges, check out the link with FUSE: https://www.fusestudio.net/challenges.
I look forward to sharing more news in the coming months to update you on the progress of establishing our school's new FUSE STEAM Studio!
